David M. Engel examines the transformation of legal consciousness associated with globalization through the injury narratives of ordinary Thai people. Surprisingly he finds that injury victims are more likely to conceptualize their grievances in terms of religiosity than rights.

Burma and the common law? An Uncommon question

John Southalan considers common law concepts as they relate to Burma. Although Burma is a former British colony, statutory laws have negated common law concepts and the judiciary has lacked independence since 1962.  However if there is a return to rule of law, Southalan argues that common law principles may be reintroduced.

This article analyzes the challenges posed by small and medium business enterprises to compliance with Indonesian trademark law.  Indonesian Small and Medium Business Enterprises rarely register their trademarks and are at risk of having their intellectual property violated by larger enterprises.  Certain Indonesian SMEs profit from violating the intellectual property of larger enterprises.
