  • Globalization and Restorative Justice in the Thai Criminal Justice System by Jutharat Ua-amnoey, Assistant Professor and Criminologist at the Chulalongkorn University. This article explains how the global trend in restorative justice has emerged in Thailand and helped reform the authoritarian regime of the Thai criminal justice system. Causes and consequences of this trend in Thailand are also discussed in the article.

  • Jurisdiction of Electronic Transaction in Thailand by Sangsit Narintarangkul Na Ayudhaya, Judge of the Civil Court. This article is concerned with issues of territoriality and jurisdiction in Thai law in cases that involve contracts or agreements made by electronic means. The author offers a concise review of current electronic transaction jurisdiction theory and relevant Thai laws, before demonstrating how the jurisdiction of electronic transaction differs from territorial jurisdiction. He brings our attention to the ambiguities of the existing principles of jurisdiction in Thai law when applied to cases of electronic transaction.

  • Indecency on the Internet as a Challenge to Thai Law by Alexander Shytov. The author argues that the Thailand Penal Code is ambiguous when applied to internet pornography. Weaknesses in the Thailand Penal Code include criminalizing pornography only when it is for the purpose of trade and unclear standards on what classifies as obscenity. Shytov stresses that it is important for Thai people to be able to preserve their morals against modern indecency. He suggests Thai lawyers proceed by developing new standards for classifying indecency and new ways of coping with pornography from the old motto "love your neighbor as yourself".

  • WTO to Strenghten World's Ruling on Sugar: Thailand as a Case Study by Kanaphon Chanhom. The World Trade Organization's 2005 case "European Communities - Export Subsidies on Sugar" is the starting point for the author's examination of agricultural export subsidies and WTO jurisprudence. The author uses Thailand as a case study to demonstrate both the affects of the European Economic Communities' agricultural subsidies on developing countries with trade deficits, as well as the importance of WTO policy. The paper offers a good discussion on the historical background of the law of agricultural export subsidies, and provides excellent insight into the impact of the World Trade Organization's policies on the lives of Thai farmers.
