Energy Drinks Prepping for FDA Crackdown
Energy drink makers Red Bull and Monster both recently hired lobbying firms in preparation for a potential Federal Drug Administration (FDA) crackdown on caffeinated beverages, according to recently released lobbying disclosure reports.
The investment in lobbying by the energy drink manufacturers comes after the FDA announced it would look into the links surrounding caffeinated beverages and the multiple deaths that occurred from them. Three members of Congress have announced a preliminary investigation into the consequences surrounding caffeinated drinks, including their marketing. New York Attorney General is also asking for more information from the companies regarding their marketing, in an effort to ensure its accuracy.
