Selfie Causes Miss Universe Drama Between Israel and Lebanon
Miss Lebanon Saly Greige will get to keep her title which the Lebanon government considered reversing after a photo of Greige with her Israeli counterpart sparked controversy, reports Haaretz.
Miss Israel Doron Matalon posted a selfie with Greige and two other contestants on Facebook during the week leading up to the contest.
“According to the information we obtained, Miss Lebanon did not have bad intentions that necessitates her being stripped of her title or punishment,” said Michel Pharaon, Lebanon’s Tourism minister, in a televised press conference, according to Harretz.
Greige wrote on Instagram that though she was cautious to not take any pictures with Miss Israel, Matalon “tried repeatedly” to take pictures with her upon her arrival at the pageant.
