Hot! Blacklist for Thailand Visa Overstays Starts in March

From March 20th there will be more severe penalties for tourists in Thailand overstaying their visas.

Effective from March 2016, foreigners could be blacklisted if they stay beyond their visa period.

Foreigners will be divided into two groups, those who overstay and turn themselves in, and those who are arrested for overstaying.

Those who turn themselves in will face the following bans for entering Thailand:

– Overstay for more than 90 days will receive a 1 year ban
– 3 years of overstay will be banned for five years
– 5 years of overstay will be banned for ten years

  1. These penalties are too harsh! 90 days and you get a 1 year ban, I hope it will change back and we can just pay a fine and be done with it like before.
