It is Illegal to Screen-Shot and Share Snapchat Images Without Consent, UK Culture Minister Warns
Snapchat users beware: screen-grabbing and sharing images without consent of the owner could land you in jail or being sued under copyright law.
Snapchat is a popular photo sharing app that allows users to view an image for just a few seconds before it disappears. This has made it popular for sharing explicit images.
The UK government’s culture minister Ed Vaizey has warned:
“Under UK copyright law, it would be unlawful for a Snapchat user to copy an image and make it available to the public without the consent of the image owner, […] The image owner would be able to sue anyone who does this for copyright infringement.”
