Hot! Largest Underground Drug Marketplace Shut Down by Law Enforcement

As stated by The Verge, AlphaBay, debatably the most largest and notorious underground marketplace for illegal goods, has been shut after an international effort by law enforcement that saw one of AlphaBay’s operators captured in Thailand.

Alexandre Cazes, a Canadian citizen, was arrested by Thai authorities on July 5th, the same day the AlphaBay marketplace went down. The US took lead of the charge on extradition.

According to Canada’s foreign affairs department, not long after his arrest, Alexandre was found dead in his cell in Bangkok due to apparent suicide. The Washington Post reported that Casez was set to meet an attorney about his extradition back to the United States an hour before his reported suicide.
