NGOs Push Donors on Rights
RFA | More than 100 NGOs gathered in Cambodia calling on donor countries to make further aid conditional on government reforms for a more transparent process and efficient judicial system.
Eight international NGOs also submitted a joint letter demanding that donors do more to protect Cambodia’s human rights. Despite protections provided in the Cambodia constitution, many Cambodian human rights activists, are facing various criminal charges or have been detained by authorities in recent months.
The NGOs also recommended that the government reform its national land policy and devise a plan to better manage revenues derived from the country’s natural resources.
