Thailand Listed as CIA Ally in Torture Campaign
Thailand was recently listed as one of six countries that aided the United States’ Central Intelligence Agency in anti-terrorist torture campaigns. According to the Bangkok Post, Thailand allowed the CIA access to safe houses where prisoners “were thrown against fake walls, forced into stressful physical functions, involuntarily stripped naked and slapped.”
Thailand was listed as one of 54 total countries who have aided the U.S. in anti-terrorist efforts since the terrorist attacks of 9/11. Those efforts included hosting CIA prisons, interrogating suspects, allowing airspace for secret flights or providing intelligence. The report also claims that the U.S. held prisoners in secret detention sites in Thailand.
