Two Canadian law firms have filed a $578 million class-action lawsuit against Avid Dating Life and Avid Life Media – the Toronto based owners of adulterers website Ashley Madison, the target of a recent hack, exposing everyone who has ever registered on the site, reports Time.

Ashley Madison, the site that enables extra-marital affairs, received a warning last month from hacking group ‘The Impact Team’ requesting the site be taken down or else they leak customer information. The group stated that Ashley Madison were untruthful when they stated customers could do a permanent delete of their records for a fee of $19.

Divorce lawyers in Thailand Chaninat and Leeds are experts in handling divorces between Thai nationals and foreigners.

True to their word, the hackers have now released the full database of email addresses used to register on the site. Roughly 36 million email accounts have been exposed, with customer data collected from March 2008 until this year.

Two Canadian law firms — Charney Lawyers and Sutts, Strosberg LLP — filed the suit on Thursday on behalf of Canadians whose privacy has been breached. The information leaked online for public viewing includes not only customers names and email addresses, but also home addresses, credit card details and message history.

In a statement the firms said “Numerous former users of AshleyMadison.com have approached the law firms to inquire about their privacy rights under Canadian law […] They are outraged that AshleyMadison.com failed to protect its users’ information. In many cases, the users paid an additional fee for the website to remove all of their user data, only to discover that the information was left intact and exposed.”

No action is being taken against the Impact Team hackers who attacked AshleyMadison.com, just the website owners Avid Life Media and Avid Dating Life.

The lawsuit still needs to be certified by the court.

Update: There have been reports of suicides linked to the Ashley Madison leak.
