Colorado’s new civil unions law means that gay couples married in other states can legally terminate their relationships in Colorado without the need to uproot their lives.
CBS News reports that Juli Yim and Lorelei Jones wed in Massachusetts in 2009, where same-sex marriage is legal. They were however divorced earlier this week, and were one of seven same sex divorce petitions which has been filed since the new law was introduced.

Colorado’s civil union law, which came into legal force on May 1, provides legal protections including division of property, financial responsibility between former spouses, parental visitation and child support, as long as one of the involved individuals has lived in Colorado for 90 days or more.
