Divorce Expo Aims to Help Split Couples

For anyone in a divorce or considering going through one, The Divorce Expo on August 18 will provide an opportunity to address issues related the legal separation of couples.

At the first local conference producers of the Expo want to give people a chance do to well in a situation that can be very difficult.

“We are about you and finding your way,” said Joost Allard, principal in Split Partners LLC and one of the producers of The Divorce Expo. “Even couples considering how to stay in marriage and work to make it better.”

He created The Divorce Expo after going through his own divorce. Along with Christine McQueen he also created Split Partners, a divorce coaching business. The expo has four parallel seminar tracks allowing attendees to choose the information that best fits their needs. There are also question and answer sessions as well as one on one consultation for those who want further help.

Though Thailand does not currently have any conferences on divorce issues there is Thai-based website, Thailand Family Law Center, that does offer advice on various topics for families going through legal issues  in Thailand.

More Gray Divorces in Fairfax County

In Fairfax County, Virginia more Baby Boomers are getting divorces adding to the phenomenon of ‘gray divorce’ in which couples over 55 are separating.

Now called the “divorce capital of Virginia, ” the county was found to have a rising divorce rate from 9.1 per cent to 11.8 per cent for men between the ages of 55 and 64. For men over 65 the divorce rate rose from 5.2 per cent to 6.6 per cent.

Financial strain and greater financial independence have both been linked to the rising divorce rate. Also, senior divorce in Thailand has been on the rise as many retirees come to the Kingdom to live out their retirement and settle for separation in the process.
