Global Labor Union Files Complaint Against Thailand

Global labor union IndustriALL, which has 50 million members worldwide, has filed a complaint against Thailand at the International Labour Organization in Geneva.

The complaint, which was announced last week, was sent to the ILO’s committee on freedom of association, details 18 cases of worker and labor abuses, reports Reuters.

The statement the union released states:

“IndustriALL, which has seven affiliate trade unions in the country, accuses the Thai government of failing to protect its workforce of 39 million workers, nearly half of whom are employed in the informal sector.”

Company lawyers in Thailand Chaninat and Leeds have decades of experience helping businesses be the success they deserve to be.

This is not the first time Thailand has been accused of labor abuses. The Thai fishing industry in particular has received its fair share of criticism.

It is currently under deadline to turn things around, after it was revealed the European Union is considering ceasing trade with the kingdom for its continually failing to meet their standards.

Ceasing trade with Europe would have devastating effects for the Thai economy.

European firms understandably don’t want to end up in the same position as Costco and Nestle, who are both embroiled in lawsuits after being accused of sourcing their fish from Thai fishing companies that employ slave labor.
