Legalization of casinos in Thailand

The Thai government hoped to make a lot of money by legalizing casinos in the country. However, as the survey shows, only 2% of tourists are ready to go on vacation in this country because of the presence of gambling establishments. Seven percent of respondents will not refuse to go to the casino, but the primary purpose of their trip is still vacationing at sea. Thus, the idea of legalizing gambling establishments was negatively perceived among tourists.

What is it for?

The government is going to make money on this. The opening of various casinos will not only attract foreign investors but also tax deductions. Since Thailand is one of those countries where the primary income is formed at the expense of tourism, it is not a bad idea for casinos to increase the state budget. Experts conducted a survey showing that 29% of respondents are negatively disposed to this idea. That’s almost one-third.

This bill is currently being discussed only. Local authorities have been trying for several years to pass a new law allowing the legalization of gambling establishments, but nothing has moved beyond the discussion.

However, this does not prevent Thais and visitors to the country from actively gambling over the Internet. People are no less active in betting on cricket and other popular sports. To do this today, it is enough to open the site, which ranks first among similar sports-related websites and provides information about the best applications for cricket betting. Such applications also offer many other sports and thousands of gambling entertainment options.

Are there any prospects?

Even if the law on casino legalization is passed, opening the first gambling establishment will take 10-15 years. It will be necessary to find investors, prepare documents, build a gaming center, and launch it. Now, the whole problem is the conservatives who oppose the construction of casinos.

The Thai government is focusing on the experience of neighboring Cambodia. This country not only legalized gambling but also invited the Chinese to implement projects. In just two seasons, it created full-fledged gambling zones of international class. This is precisely what the Thai leadership wants.

Casinos in resorts

Gambling establishments in such resorts are very popular. People come here to relax and have fun, and gambling entertainment will attract many tourists worldwide. The most important thing is that everything was realized at a high level. If everything works out, Thailand can become a “second Las Vegas.”
