Ohio’s Medical Marijuana Law Passed; Michigan’s Bill Approved

Ohio’s medical marijuana law has gone into effect while the bill for Michigan’s medical marijuana has been approvedmarijuana-leaf-694336_960_720

The state of Ohio has passed a law that allows for patients suffering from certain illnesses to obtain and possess medical marijuana. The law itself provides patients an affirmative defense against prosecution for marijuana possession but doesn’t say where patients can get their marijuana from according to Cleveland.com.

The lawmakers have allowed residents to obtain marijuana from Michigan, where obtaining and possessing of medical marijuana is legal.

However, even though law was passed in 2008 in Michigan, Detroit Free press claims that “it has often been purchased and used in a regulatory vacuum and state of confusion.”  Hence a new bill to license, tax and regulate the cultivation, processing, transport, testing and sale of various forms of medical marijuana was introduced and has just been passed.
