GrabTaxi Holdings Pte has been ordered by the Department of Land Transport to cease service of its GrabBike until it complies with local regulations, writes Bangkok Post.

The department has taken issue with the payment method and fares charged which do not comply with published rates which creates unfair competition. Also, the motorcycles are not covered by accident insurance and the government has not carried out criminal checks on the drivers.
Drivers who are caught violating the ban will face arrest, and potentially be stripped of their licenses.
