Korea’s Sex Trade in Legal Limbo
South Korea’s Constitutional Court will be deciding whether or not it’s legal to pay for sex in the country. While the sex trade in the country is illegal, the case is questioning the grey area of receiving payment following voluntary sexual relations. Said Judge Oh Won-Chon, “Should the relationship have occurred with mutual consent without the involvement of organized gangs or pimps, there are limitations as to whether the state should get involved.”
