Law Schools See Drop in Applicants
Applications to law schools around the country are about to hit a thirty-year low. And as The Atlantic reports, that’s probably a good thing. The job market for law school graduates is bleak: just 85% of the 2011 graduating class had a job after graduation, fewer than 65% had jobs that required bar passage, and less than half were at law firms.
All the while, law schools were accepting more and more applicants and new schools were popping up across the country, hoping to cash in on the JD hopefuls. The fact that the number of law school applicants has dropped 20% since this time last year, then, may be a good thing.
