Myanmar’s 88 Generation Students Aiding in Legal Disputes
Myanmar’s student activist group, 88 Generation, has enlisted the help of a law firm to provide Myanmar citizens with legal advice regarding land disputes.
As the country opens itself up for global foreign investment and loosens the restrictive laws of its past military rule, land seizures by the government, private companies and the elite have become common — called a potential “land-grabbing epidemic,” according to the Asian Human Rights Commission.
