Southeast Asia’s Anti-Narcotics Campaign Launches
Burma is the most recent country to join an anti-narcotics fight against drug-related crimes in the Mekong River region, CCTV.com reports. China, Thailand, Laos and now Burma will collaborate to “solve major trans-regional cases along the river and break narcotics production chains,” along with targeting transportation networks. Representatives say that ensuring safety along the Mekong River is necessary since the major artery is integral in Southeast Asia trading routes.

A launch event for the campaign was held in Beijing on Thursday. The two-month campaign will begin April 20.
